For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.'Barnstorming' is the name that was given to activities - eg flying circuses, theatrical groups' performances, political campaigns etc - which travelled around country/rustic areas putting on shows of one sort or another. Often enough, being held in the countryside, they actually took place in or around 'barns' and were usually very loud and lively and hence created a bit of a 'storm'.
