I've got one left 22ac - Bits and pieces of stone pitchers (5). Since I can not solve the cryptic clue I have tried to work backwards.
The check letters are ?I?E?. This suggests FIR, PINE or LIME . It cant be FIR as this would give too many duplicate trees. The only anagram for LIME I can think of is MILE, so this leaves me with PINE. This gives an anagram of PENI - according to Chambers OE for penny. As these letters are in the middle of "stoNE PIctures" I wondered if I was thinking along the right lines?
