lighting / fuse trip problem - only half the rooms now work
The fuse box tripped as normal, but when I switched it back on, the lights in bath/ktchen/living room don't work, but the hallway/bedroom do? All other plugs / appliances appear to be working normally?

If it was the whole house I would have a guess your house is fitted with rewirable/cartridge fuses and one of them for the lighting circuits ( fuse hiolder usually coloured white ) has blown as sometimes happens when a light bulb blows - If not there's a guy that answers on here called Raysparx1 - I would follow his advice.
I would think if it went with a bang, one of the light fittings has a fault, are the fuses a little cartridge fuse ?similar to the ones that go in plug tops ? or are they like a switch ?
before you replace the cartridge fuse or put the mcb back on,turn all light switches off, replace fuse or put mcb on,then turn lights on one at the time,be prepared for it to go bang again,if it is a faulty light you will then know which one it is, let us know, how it goes, Ray
