I have lots of lumps of clearish jelly on my lawn about 3-5cm in diameter. I am worried that they may be poisonous to my child and pets. What are they and are they dangerous?

It's probabley star spawn. Thought originally to be the product of shooting stars falling to earth but infact the unhydrated spawn of frogs toads and newts. Amphibia spawn when layed in an aqueous environment swells to produce the classic spawn you see in ponds but when it is squeezed from a frog by an enterprising cat/fox/dog/heron unhydrated spawn is released and hey presto gelatinous splodges all over you lawn. As for it toxicity it's about as toxic as frog spawn.
It looks like it could be a harmless kind of fungus. Have a look at this site to see if it's the same as yours: http://agspsrv34.agric.wa.gov.au/agency/pubns/gardennotes/gn 00196.htm
If you live in Dunstable, it could be all those sea gulls that have flown over with remains of jelly fish in their mouths!
