Any mention of Christmas should be banned until December the first, and it should be illegal to put up Christmas decorations in November, and shops should not start selling Christmas related products until December first, The build up to Christmas gets earlier and earlier every year and for me it spoils the excitment that I used to feel as a child, when Christmas begain in December and not August, as it does now!

Merry Christmas Mr. Grinch :) Try to let it go and enjoy the holidays honey - no matter what we cannot recapture the excitement we felt as a child - it just isn't possible:)

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
From and old lady in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
Something a bit odd happened to me today. I was queuing in the Post Office - long wait as usual - and so I was looking at some of the stuff on sale. I took a look at the Christmas cards on sale (happy in the knowledge that mine were posted off yesterday) when I spotted a selection of cards with pictures of the Virgin Mary, and the Shepherds, Wise Men etc. And my first thought was "Oo no, they're a bit over religious". Then it struck me..... Christmas time should be religious. How many of us by non-religious cards nowadays? It made me realise how commercial we've (or least I've) become. Bit sad really.
U know you are talking my kinda talk. I honestly thought i was the only one who thought Christmas is started way way way too early. I was in a shop in Aug and they were selling Christmas decorations. Having Christmas brought in so early spoils the excitement of when Christmas actually comes. I think Christmas is every day in some house holds they forget the whole meaning of it.
agree with the op, christmas is about 1 thing and 1 thing only anyway--- the birth of santa
I am a mega christmas fan and I 'm happy to wait to december to see the shops start selling the 'stuff' so I don't know why others can't.

I don't think it's their choice but a ploy by the shops to train people to start buying sooner and therefore more each year. Even though there is no real reason why anyone however many kids they have would have to start shopping that early.

I think over the year in general I and others do see gifts and put them away for christmas, but it is all the decorations etc we are talking about banning till december.
Makesmesmile, I like to buy holy card's. That's supposed to be the whole reason for celebrating Xmas.."Christ's Mass" meaning " Christ's Birthday". I often wonder what disney character's lit up in people's windows have to do with Xmas??
I couldn't agree more with you drusilla, Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas but these days it's become a bit of a drag with all the pressure that goes with it. We're all too busy worrying about how much we're buying instead of concentrating on the important things.

Hello btw, haven't seen you about for a long time. Hope you're well hunni x
What infuriates me at this time is that people put "Xmas" therefore taking the Christ out of Christmas...

Have a very happy Christmas everyone.
Couldn't agree more with you. My heart sinks when I walk into shops in the September sunshine and see all the cards and decorations. Perhaps if we all started to provide feedback to the stores that we really don't want to see all this stuff until December and refuse to buy before then they might get the message.
But, for those who have lots of presents to buy for lots of people, perhaps the only way they can cope is to start early and spread the financial load.
And don't you just hate it when Hot Cross buns start appearing in January? I run a one-person boycott on them until Easter week.
It was truly wonderful to see Christmas stuff in the local Co-Op in late July......I am even more thrilled right now to see some cardboard boxes of Easter eggs in their storeroom. I'll buy my Easter eggs in their Boxing Day sales!
rocascool, The X symbolises the Cross that Christ was cruxified on. The T cross as we know it was'nt used by the Roman's.
