Knitting a jumper
3 Answers
I have a design for a jumper in my head but no one will knit it because they say you need a pattern. Does anyone know where I could get a pattern drawn up? (I have no idea when it comes to knitting!)

There is software availble to be able to draw up patterns

But it is very complicated and you need to have a good knowledge of knitting. A knitwear designer would charge the earth for an individual design and writing the pattern. There are sites such as this
http://spincraftpatterns.com/index.php?cPath=5 0&osCsid=a431ae97cae3a01512dfb62d508947d5
but they are all generic patterns which you can adapt, the only bugbear being that it is an American site and they knit differently to us .
Another resort could be Sian Brown on this site

You can contact her and she may be able to advise you .
Good luck with your jumper .

Just a quick PS ..if the design you have in mind is a basic jumper with a design on the front say, you could find a pattern for a plain one and then do your design on graph paper with the colours you want .This is quite easy to work into a basic knitting pattern taking into account rows stitches and colours ...bit like knitting fairisle. So..if you can find someone who is a whiz at deciphering this sort of thing you will be sorted ..I prefer to use a pencil and paper !!!
