Can anyone explain (simple terms please) what happens to text which is justified in a report appears to be unjustifed when it reaches the recipient?

I use Microsoft Word.

Thanks in advance.

To test your problem, I have just sent a justified letter from one of my files to myself.

It is a Microsoft Word document. I sent it from Outlook Express to Outlook Express.

Firstly I copied the letter and then pasted it into the message window.

Then additionally, I added the file as an attachment.

Upon receipt, BOTH versions in the email remained justified.

I can only suggest that your recipient has justified mode disabled on their computer.

Sorry I cannot be more specific.

Happy Christmas.
Most likely reason is they have different fonts installed on their computer. If the recipient's PC does not have the required font, it will display using an substitute font where the characters may have different widths.

The way round it is to send a PDF file. This is meant to display the same on any computer.
