I know it sounds ungrateful but.......
Hu guys - not been on here for a while what with moving house etc.Anyway,to cut a long story short,I arranged the most wonderful present for my boyfriend for Xmas.I flew him to Manchester to see Man Utd play in the Champions League, spent 2 nights in a hotel there and had the most amazing time.He was totally gobsmacked and said he couldn't believe the effort I had gone to.It cost an absolute bomb but it was worth it to see the look on his face, This was Dec 6th. When it came to this week he said he was going shopping to buy my prezzie, and he said I deserved something really special and how much he loved me. I laughed and said it wasn't about money, but about putting thought into things.Anyway,he came home incredibly quickly, sneaked upstairs and then came down and said it hadn;t taken long as he had known already what he was going to buy. When it came to Xmas morning, well - he handed me several wrapped prezzies - I had 1.A chocolate orange 2.A Little Britain Calender 3. Lee Evans dvd 4.Gift box of smellies 5.Bottle of perfume. 6. Hideous belt. Now I know I sound a cow but I was stunned - after all the talk about something special he had apparently gone round the shops and grabbed the nearest few things he could see. I managed to cover my disappointment and he still hasn't twigged Im upset. He has gone away now till saturday. His mum has just popped over and when I showed her what he bought she thought I was winding her up.He earns a fortune but its not even about the money - if he had gone into a jewellerys and got me a single gift of say a pair or earrings or a bangle for I would have been chuffed as it meant he thought about it.But he didn't - he just randomly picked up 5 or 6 items. I don't know if im being unfair in thinking this way or not and just wondered what you thought??

I bought my husband a lot of nice things about 160 worth all together. And I had been on about a gold braclet I would like, solid one with stones of some sort on the top side Or tickets to see Il Divo, now that was what I REALLY WANTED. or a holder for a jigsaw puzzle so you can fold it up and put away. Well I got a mobile phone, because ,he told me ,he had it as it was on special offer. and a braclet with the two balls on the ends, hope you know what I mean. oh! and not to forget a paperback book. Once he asked what I wanted and I said like you do,nothing. and guess what? that is what I did get.!! After 35 years I should know better I suppose.! Never mind at least you had a choclate orange HaHa,Have you opened it yet? maybe it has something inside it like a three diamond gold ring. Wishful thnking ah!! love Brenda
Mine did Lilacben, i always said i liked the silver love heart you can get in fire box, and Mr Boobs went to the shop and bought a pack of love hearts and was trying to put it in the end without ruining the packaging, unfortunately it didnt work so he had to wrap it in the box, but the sentiment was there! :-D
for several years my hubby got me gifts which i didnt really like and id make all the grateful noises then put the gifts in the back of the wardrobe never to be seen again in the end i thought sod it so after the last awful gift i got i told him what a load of rubbish it was and an absolute waste of money(yes know i hurt him but....)and low and behold he now listens to what i tell him and buys me some lovely things, harsh but worth it in the end
This is the very reason i type out a very detailed and informative Christmas list. I give plenty of choices at varying degrees of cost and they can get one or all of the things if they are feeling extra giving. I give one to my husband, one to my son and one to my daughter. I i know i will at least get some or maybe all(if i've been a very good girl) of what i want).
I'm very good at giving thoughtful gifts and so is my daughter, but my son and hubby need a little help of which i am more than happy to provide. Never assume we are usually disappointed when we do. At least your guy is not as bad as my ex husband, he used to go out an hour before the stores closed on Christmas eve to the local drug store(something like Boots) and pick up a couple of things.
Next year if you dont make a list take him shopping with you and say, "ooooo, I would just love those earing for Christmas", and "ahhh, that bracelet would go great with my new Christmas outfit, hint, hint, wink, wink, nudge, nudge!" Sometimes you have to be bold and lead them by the hand or nose, whichever.lol!
