Enthusiasm is good, but going beserk is more than you want!

As for pulling, only walk forward when the lead is slack. He's very sharp, so should get the idea quite quickly. Start before you leave the house - if he pulls, you stand still or turn around and retreat a pace or two. The only way for him to get where he wants to be - forward! - is to control his energy and walk at your pace until you let him off for a run.
This does work, but everyone must be consistent - it may take you 20 mins to get out ouf the house on the first day. He will be then working on the reward system, if he behaves, he gets what he wants, which is usually more effective than punishing the wrong behaviour, eg water spray.
