Should I clip my kitten's claws?

I have a 7.5 week old kitten, with some very sharp and active claws! Should I clip them?

Oooo no, not by yourself, not only will you get shredded to bu88ery you could do serious damage if you misjudged the claw. Take him/her to the vets.

an adult cat is hard enough to hold onto, clipping my monster's claws used to be a nightmare of spitting and hissing with him lashing out with teeth and claws.

Kittens are wriggly little things at the best of times, and one of you might hurt the other - my money is on kittie as BOO says.

As you have your cat from kitten-hood he/she will learn to tolerate the manicure from you as it gets older.

I remember when my cat was a kitten, I was constantly covered in scratches all over my hands. Must have looked so dodgy when people saw I had cuts across my wrists!!

I feel for you, but kitten will grow out of it, scratching posts are a good idea

Never cut a cats claws in my life. But mine have always been 'outdoor' cats and had scratching posts indoors. One of the joys of having a kitten, shredded sofas and net curtains!

I have only had one cat and I got him as an adult, but years ago I had to look after my friend's kitten for 2 whole weeks.

One minute this thing is sitting on your shoulder dangling from an earring, the next second he was sitting on the curtain pelmet.

They look so small, fluffy and innocent! He is 16 now and still strutting around his territory looking for trouble.

I have always cut my cats claws - even from when they were tiny - they get used to it really quickly as long as you are gentle. Didn't do them any harm at all.
