credit card refusal
4 Answers
heard many horror stories of credit being dished out to those already heavily in debt, so i dont understand how i a houseowner with no debts at all , pay full every month with 7 credit cards get refused an store card with one of the possible reasons "overcommitment, payment profile, residential status ,employment staus"
How much checking do these credit agencies do?okay now i admit i moved to a new address recently - but didnt tell on my application thati had lived there less than 3 years and am not on electoral roll at new address - was this the main reason for refusal? even so some cross referencing with my D.O.B would have shown all clear , but still puzzled if im refused for that ,how heavily debtted people still get further credit cards??

The fact that you have recently moved and did not admit it on the application forms rings alarm bells with card companies - you could be anybody. I expect there are a few people in the UK with a name and date of birth similar to yours - anyone of those may have bad credit history, or the address you have moved to may have had bad debtors living there in the recent past.
By not giving your previous address there was no footprint to follow.
Also, store cards are generally provided by credit card companies. Royal Bank of Scotland issue many cards under different 'brandings' . If you already have several cards with them, you may be at the maximum credit limit for that company.

Why have 7 cards and still need another? If you are capable of paying them off each month - why have them at all?
The amount of credit you are holding on these cards also puts your liability up. In theory you could spend the total available credit in one day and have no means to pay them off. The more credit you have readily available the higher the risk.
