How often should you wait in between dying your hair! I put a permanent dye on my hair a few weeks back (only a chesnut brown) and I want to do it again but I am not sure I have left it long enough as it probably wasn't even a month ago! Is that too soon?

if ur doing it that often why dont you use a semi, they are actually good for your hair where as the old permanents are evils
Are you colouring your hair to cover grey or make it a totally different colour to your own? If yes to either, then you need to stick with a permanent colour - otherwise, you might find that a semi-perm. colour would be better for your hair, condition wise.

If you need to use a perm. colour, are you happy to stick to the same colour for a while? Is yes, then you can get away with just colouring the roots and combing through for the last 5 - 10 mins of developing time. This will help to prevent damage to the ends of your hair - and save some you some money, as you wont need to use a whole treatment each time.

If switching colour, you will obviously need to cover hair entirely.

I find I need to blend in my roots every five weeks, but it really depends on fast your hair grows/colour of hair.
And always use conditioner on your hair when shampooing. Colouring can damage your hair if not treatly it kindly!

I don't like the semi's as they fade so much quicker!

I am not covering greys... I am only 22 :o).. Lol. I use sort of the same colour and I only do it because my hair is dark brown with nothing added.. it sometimes looks plain... so I add a tint of red.. my hair never looks red though because its so dark but it gets a tint on it which I like and it makes it look shiny. I only use Herbal Essences hair dye as it doesn't have amonia and it makes my hair so soft afterwards! I just find that if I dye it, because I am using a red, it fades.. My hair remains dyed but the colour lightens... red always does! I ALWAYS condition my hair though.. only on the tips.. not the roots though.. the roots produce their own oils and I wash my hair everyday (even though thats bad).. but I have been going to the same hair salon since I was 14 and always had the same stylist and she says my hair is in great condition.... and I straighten it everyday.. but put serum on it before I do that! I am suprised it hasn't fallen out actually! Lol
Sounds like you're looking after your hair - and I'm sad to say I have a lot of grey to cover - got my first grey hairs at school!
i do the same as you rubyrose and love herbal essences colour - but i have an extra question.....my friend normally dyes mine for me but she's away this week and i need it doing before the weekend when i'm having my haircut so my boyfs got to do it...how?! does he start on the top in the parting? or at the bottom underneath...... can anyone give me some basic instructions i can give to him in terms of application?! i've never done it myself!
