For the last week of my personal selections, my chosen LINKS are as follows:
Short CIRCUIT
STAND(ING) Tall
Narrow ESCAPE
BroadCAST
As usual, the competition was launched promptly at 9.00 to be met with the equally traditional cascade of entries. The very first "HIT" was registered at 9.04, when ulysses100 predicted correctly "Narrow ESCAPE". Only seconds later came rogerr "STANDING Tall" and picking up the second bonus point for picking off the second Link Word.
Six minutes and five entries later, in came a live wire to "SHORT CIRCUIT" the process. This was "a real wind up" (anag) who is better known as paulineward (Dame of the OAB). "Short Circuit" fell and Dame Pauline became two points richer.
The last link word held out for almost an hour when (at 9.58) newcomer Littleowl chanced her arm with BROADCAST and picked up the last of the bonus points. Each of those named above will score two points for spotting a link word and being the first to do so.
Only one person was able to score two points by spotting two links without their carrying bonus points. That "person" was our Canadian friends, Ont-ice.
This was a difficult round with many options to choose from and (for one reason or another) I would like to name all four as "Stars of the ROUND". Before I deal with other matters, let me explain that I compile my list one week in advance. I then have one last look on Thursday for second thoughts. During this session last week, I decided to remove at that time the words NORFOLK Broad (too parochial) and Short SHRIFT (too obscure).
Special mention (but no extra points) goes out to ChrisHewat who first predicted SHRIFT and also to Gravi82mud who had the courage to follow his lead!
All in all a challenging round with low scores, but lots of fun!

Please note that we'll be away for the last three Saturdays in the February MM game. What shall we do on Saturday mornings? (No! Please don't answer that).
We'll miss you all.
BUT, we will be here for Saturday 3rd. If we got up at four am and hid in the shrubbery along with the rest of you, won bonus points and then got all four correct on that day could we still win the title without entering on the following three Saturdays??????? :-)
PS. I'm off now for supper and to watch the BBC world service newscast.

Ont-ice - Will you be completely out of touch? Perhaps you can phone your predictions into me? If you wish to chat about this, then I should be available on the following address <[email protected]>.
This "service" is available to anyone finding themselves in a similar situation.

Thanks Crofter but it would be a heck of an expensive phone call from the Caribbean.
We may be able to access a computer. You never know, someone may have a laptop and be willing to let us use it for a couple of minutes.
There may even be an internet cafe at the hotel.
We'll certainly do our best.
Thanks again for the kind offer.
I hope you don't mind if I put your email adds in my adds book? One never knows when that may be useful.
O-ice
PS. You didn't answer the question re the 4:00am Canada wake up, bonus points and all four correct. :-)
