A couple of weeks ago I started getting messages on Norton to say that I was no longer protected against viruses even though my subscription is paid until April 2007. Having tried unsuccessfully to solve the problem the system recommended that I uninstall Norton and then reinstall. This I did today and everything seems to be working ok except that the subscription renewal date has changed from April 2007 to 23 January 2008.

I know this means I have been given an extra 9 months protection but have I installed the wrong version of Norton. Therefore, am I currently using the basic 2005 package instead of the updated version that I paid for in April 2006.

If I am using the basic 2005 version for the next 12 months will my computer be at greater risk and if so should I uninstall and try to reinstall the updated version that expires in April 2007.

I know Norton does have its critics (serious understatement) but any guidance from any other Norton user would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have used Norton since 2001 - and only recently have had questions about it's BLOATEDNESS - I don't believe that you are using the latest version (2007) - but don't understand how you have upgraded (via the web ?)
I have always bought and used CD's
