Hi
I have just been bought a new laptop and wireless router - (Packard Bell) love my gran lol!
the router/modem is a Belkin G+ Mimo. now i have installed everything correctly, but it won't hold a connection, so Mr nice guy from ACS computers came out and said it was a faulty router/modem, so i went back and got another one, i still had the same problem. I rang Belkin who have said that i should contact my ISP, which is Toucan.. which i have done (although i knew it wouldn't be a problem with them because i can connect through my phoneline to their broadband through the Speedtouch modem!) and way, they said it wasn't their fault.
so off back i went and i got a D-Link router, which i have installed again, and it still won't hold a connection.
It will however say that i am connected in the bottom og the screen, but won't connect to a webpage. I have gone through to D-Link help desk, who said that they can't help!
So i am now at a loss!
I have tried changing routers, filters, resetting, throwing and crying.. and nothing seems to work!
Oh, i have tried turning all the firewalls off as well, including windows!
Does anyone have any suggestions?!

I can't remeber which setting it was under in the router but it was a "Connect on demand" tick box which was ticked and 5 minutes after using the PC the light on the router turned red and dropped the connection. I was ages finding it. Taking the tick out of the box sorted it. That was a Belkin, I run a D Link myself and haven't seen that setting but I'm now going for a look! (good ol' Gran)
