What is the wax at the bottom of a used ear candle - residue from the burnt candle or ear wax (or both?)

They stick a rolled up bit of wax paper in your ear and then light the end. The rising air then draws the badness out of anyone�s head that is empty enough to try it. I think they give a bottle of snake oil to go home with too.
No doubt and plenty of people believe in the Loch Ness monster, flying saucers, ghosts and mediums. I also notice that newspapers print little forecasts of how our future will be based on the positions of celestial bodies. More power to you if you think it works just make sure you don't recieve a hole in you eardrum when burning wax falls down on it as some people have.
