windows updates and service pack

i need windows updates or a windows update pack but i cant download them everyime i try to its says to use internet explorer, because i am on firefox, so i change to internet explorer and everything is fine and dandy until it tells me that the internet explorer i am using has turned off add ons and i need add on's because it has programs such as active x which helps me download the updates, does anyone know how to turn the add ons back on?, also manage add ons is grey so its unclickable any one know anything !!! REALLY NEED HELP!

Try making a visit to http://www.windizupdate.com/ where you can get the updates using Opera or Firefox but not IE. You'll have to download and install their update checker, but it runs a lot faster then the MS one. Although they don't do all the updates for everything there you'll find that you can get the most important stuff
