Terracota figures

I have a terracotta figure its head has been knocked off what is the best glue to use to mend it. Should i take it to a professional

I had this problem once - the trouble was the glue just kept on soaking into the pottery, so I spoke to a sculpter and he said you have to keep applying the glue (evostick or something similar) eventually it will stop soaking in and you will have a shiney (ish) smooth surface (as opposed to dull where it soaked in) when you have that you, are then able to bond both sides together et voila
