Believe it or not, this is the headline of the London Metro today. I picked it up whilst returning from a job and very nearly missed my station, I was so shocked.

Amnesty International were responsible for the study that stated one third of Britons believe a woman who acts flirtatiously is partly to blame if she is raped.

Amazingly, 5% of women thought a woman totally responsible for being raped if she was drunk, compared with only 3% of men.

12000 rapes were reported in 2004-2005, but Amnesty believe the actual figure is closer to 60000.

Are ABers as shocked as me at the blame culture that still exists in rape cases?

Feel free to drift as far away from my question as you please, but let's keep it civilised please, ABers.

ok women who wear tiny mini skirts and display most of their breasts do not deserve to be raped but do they really help themselves?

Sorry laffo, but as a man I cringe at that all too typical contradictory statement. "It is wrong to rape but..........". If people could just stop feeling the need to add the 'but' then we would get somewhere. I refer back to my first statement a page back.

That figure is shocking, disgusting and sadly true.

Women report less rapes cos of the low conviction figures and I find this disgraceful. It's too hard to prove the truth sometimes so it puts people off reporting it.

Being drunk has nothing to do with it. If a woman doesn't say 'yes' then men shouldn't even go there. If not only to protect themselves. It's not hard restraining themselves. They shouldn't need to find a hammered woman to feel they have a chance. If a woman DOESN'T say 'yes' then take it as a no - it's not rocket science. It just requires a bit of self control, not difficult!

Then again I believe in the concept that men think with their brains and not their balls.
