I have just received my answer sheet back from the Kettering Samaritans quiz with the answer to Q28 as being Crockery and not Earl Grey. Could someone explain this please? I am just curious as the clue was "Take 5 from a very large pot at teatime" Without the v from very large, this is an anagram of Earl Grey which fits the clue. Apparently, the correct answer was "crockery" - why?
I put the same answer as you, for the same reason, so I,m just as curious about the answer. I was a little suspicious though because Earl Grey is two four-lettered words, whereas the quiz setter asked for an 8 letter word.
Kayakamina-q5 related to a summer house, so I don't think that has any connection.
I also put Earl Grey, for the same reason as you Trussell, and was quite puzzled to find the answer was crockery. I shall be very interested to see if we get an explanation.

Aquagility means that V is the Roman numeral for 5, in case it's not clear. But the ordering of the words in the original clue makes it dodgy in my eyes.
A pot of gold! = CROCK of gold
Five (v) from very = ERY
Together you get CROCKERY
(large is there for semantic reasons)
Poor quality clue which brought forth a superb answer!
Your EARL GREY is far superior to the given solution
Most home-spun Quizzes have this type of problem.

The pill can be indeed bitter, if you were close to winning!
I am sure that this is a coincidence which the compiler failed to notice.
I agree with Quizmonkey and crofter that yours is the better answer, but the 4+4 should have sounded a warning.
I'm really really REALLY sorry but I got full marks as did my dear old sister who I always buy a quiz sheet for and she helps me along the way where she can and then we both send in our entries. Well bless her she came up with crockery which I thought was great but she said " No sharing it with Answerbank" Dilemma for me as I'm quite happy to give help. Anyway she won a Tenner and is so pleased! So be nice, pleeeeze!
Only joking, well done to your sister for getting the right answer. I too put Early Grey as it seemed to fit the clue perfectly except that the answer was 8 letters and not 4,4 but couldn't come up with an alternative. Took me ages to work out why the answer was crockery this morning when I got my sheet back.
