Costs in Egypt
I would like to know what the average daily spend for food etc is in Egypt, I will be spending GBP and have paid for my flights and a tour so all I need to pay for is some food and knick knacks along the way. Any ideas how much GBP I should allow for this 16 day trip?
Thanks

If you gave them a pound sterling they asked you for 2 and were not impressed with anything less than 20 Egyptan pounds (approx 2quid). People who had been there before had the one dollar notes and one of these seemed to be quite acceptable.
food and drink was not much cheaper than home. oh forgot to say a policeman at the pyramids came up and asked me for money. I must have mug written on my face!
Im sure you will have agreat trip, we did despite the hassle.

stopped in Luxor last July with my wife and 14 old daughter only left the complex one's loads of hassle but enjoyed the holiday as for spends in the complex was about the same as here but the couple of hours we spent on the streets if you can barter you can get everything very cheap take lots of small notes out shopping with you and walk away if you don't like the price
we spent a week in Hurgahda last spring and found prices for food much the same as here but in lots of places alchohol was very expensive so why not buy a bottle of your favourite tipple at the airport for a drink on your balcony or terrace most of the hotels have fridges in all rooms so no problem with cool drinks if no ice.Be sure to buy all soft drinks as well as mixers in supermarkets in the nearest town as these can be a real ripoff in hotels over 1 for a small bottle or can we saved the cost of a taxi into Hurghada town just on soft drinks alone(my partner's a diabetic so we had to be careful about suitable drinks and were charged much more in the hotels and restaurants. Not only are beggars a pest also roadside traders who try to force you to buy their goods
