i was told that the drink can only be called whisky (no E) if it is brewed in scotland ,all others must be called whiskey (with an E ) - mind you i was touring a scottish brewery at the time !!

WHISKY is an alcoholic spirit which is distilled in Scotland from malted barley.

Whiskey is similar, but is the name give to it in Ireland and the U.S.A.

In Wales , we call it Chwisgi.
WHISKY is Scotch. Frome the Gaelic meaning "Water of life". WHISKEY is Irish/ American and all the others. Apart from the Welsh which sounds as bad as it tastes.
