i have been told my head gasket has gone on my rover214 16v and have had quotes between 600 and 200, why the big diferance?

When replacing this head gasket, the mechanic should have the cylinder head pressure tested, skimmed and all belts replace to stop future problems The cheaper quote should be just to replace without any tests My husband the mechanic says they are real b*****ds
