His other ship for the second expidition was called Terra Nova. Even the ships from his Naval career arent birds- there was HMS Spider among others but hardly a bird! Bit baffling!
Aquagility: The actual clue reads: This bird was the name of Scott of the Antarctic's ship. (6)
That's why we're all hunting for a Bird and not a creature.
This site which is very detailed and two pages long is the story of Scott's life and mentions every ship he ever set foot on prior to his death. None of the ships has a bird as its name. http://www.south-pole.com/p0000089.htm
That't the site I was on too, Ont-ice. I think with the wording of the clue 'the name of Scott of the Antarctic' it has to be Falcon. The Falcon ship of Star Wars is some kind of connection.
Many thanks to everyone for all your effort on this tricky question. I have also trawled through all websites about Scott, and am boggle eyed now. When I eventually get the answers, I will post it on here. Cheers everyone.x
