Why do you have to pay to go on one to get your ideas? Just spend a few hours in the area and get your ideas that way: there are countless plaques, statues, objects of interest, parks, gravestones, oddities etc for you to be totally original with - go for it!
I do a walking one in my own area every year. I just choose and area, walk it and jot down things I see then go home and turn them into clues
Good luck with your idea. Quizmonkey is right, though. It's amazing how many things of potential interest we walk past every day without noticing. As a bit of a time saver, you could try a library for a start to see whether there are any books (usually paperbacks) with suggested walks in various parts of London, or you could buy one. These usually detail the route, and mention items of interest. Depending on how long you want people to spend on the hunt, you can pick out one, or perhaps two adjacent ones. One essential is to do the route yourself, partly to find out how long it's likely to take, and partly to make sure that the things you're wanting people to look for are really there. Then all you need is a fine day. Afraid I can't help with that one.
and make sure you check it at the time they will do it. Last year I forgot this and when they didnt come to the pub we were meeting at the end I had to go and find them and they were stuck cos one of the shops had safely shutters and you could no longer see the name of the shop which was an answer.
Or you could try geocaching. there is a website devoted to this, and loads of trails already made up for you to find.
