Normally you should not need registry scan programs.

Most of them are a waste of time and a waste of money.

Many of these programs say they have found 1000 errors in your registry, just to trick you into buying their product.

It is rare that anything in your registry will cause major problems with windows.

If you are having problems then it is more likely to be a rogue problem or virus has been installed so try to uninstall that.

If all else fails a complete re-install of Windows will give you a nice brand new registry.

I regularly use CCleaner which is free -

If you run CCleaner and do not check carefully the options you will end up having to install Windows Anyway. It is a very aggressive program.
It's not that aggressive, sarah_louise. It just cleans up unused files and old registry entries. The only boxes I leave unticked are Hotfix Uninstallers and Autocomplete History but I leave the others ticked. Never have any problems!!
I haven't had any problem with CCleaner either. Does a great job. Comes with the usual disclaimer about being careful what you remove, of course. But all such programs do.
Remember to back up your registry regularly - you can overwrite these back ups with the next but one - one (if you get my drift ?)
Ccleaner allows this to be done automatically
