Since my first son was born i knew something was not right.. he cried and cried ALL the time, after months of persisting with the gp's and the hospital he was diagnosed with Reflux, apparently his intestine had'nt formed correctly and had a hole which caused every feed to be projectile vomited and in turn cause him to scream for hours! I was with his dad at the time who was no help at all and told me i wanted my son to be ill to get attention!!
When my son was 1 i noticed that he was more active than other children his age and as the months passed it got worse, i was advised to take him to play groups to "burn his energy" but that only made things worse as his behaviour caused the playgroup assistants to tell me off infront of other mum's for it !! At one place the assistant even shook him!! Anyway, to cut a long story short we finally had him diagnosed with Hyperactivity but they won't medicate as they say he's too young... He just never stops, climbs everything, including people, and shouts all the time, when he is disciplined, (verbally), he answers back. He is also an inxomniac, does'nt get to sleep till 4/5 am! The only people who can tolerate him are me and my parents, my friends don't even want to visit as he jumps all over them!... Just now as i was writing this i had to stop as he climbed on something in the kitchen and knocked a plant pot and there was earth everywhere!! Just took me ages to clean up!
Hope your daughter is'nt like my little boy and is just going through a rebelious phase... My son starts nursery in September so i'm hoping this will help us. Ilove him so much but this is just too much.

Well am sorry to hear that cause I understand. But the thing is that yes she is like your son and shes only 2. and shes been like this forever. when she was months she wouldn't be as bad but as soon as she started walking damb girl. But yeah it is harder when your a single mom cause am a single mom but the good thing is that I only have one cause if I had more, he was not help with this one imagine another one I couldn't do it. well you know what am scared now I should take here to get tested of something. Like you said my daughter tells me off to and believe me thats embarrasing cuase you might not know what there saying and you dont want to know. But I just dont have the heart to hit her or somehting like that. I do spank her but I believe its not hard enough for her to listen to me.
have you tried taking changing her diet and not giving her any colours or flavourings? organic food, chicken, fruit, veg and no sweets etc... my middle child goes hyper when she has fizzy pop, so now she is limited to milk or water, very, very few sweets either.
talk to your health visitor about her behaviour, she /he may be able to come up with some calming ways and advice on enforcing time out periods.
worth a try............

My son was extremely hyperactive from when he could walk. Never sat still, always up bounding around and, to be honest, irritating everyone we ever visited or that ever visited us. I tried everything, tried using up his energy, changing his food, pre-occupying him and none of it worked. It was never mentioned by anyone like doctors or his health visitor , all our friends and family just told us he was 'energetic'. He was never diagnosed with anything, and thank god I never had a major problem with his behavoiur.
I did have another child but this didn't affect him in any other way. He was still the same then.
It was only at the end of last year that I realised he's not like that now (although he still can't keep still or keep his concentration!). He's a lot calmer and not as rowdy and energetic. He's now 7.
Not sure if what you're going through is the same but he seems to have grown out of it.
Good luck x

We had a lad at playgroup who had this problem, but had been tested to see what foods caused problems.
We had to be very careful (and his mother took charge of buying the biscuits so that everyone had the same).
The pity is that not everyone will agree with this, even teachers may blame the parent.
Parents know if one child behaves differently from their brother. Yes the parent may be tense, but who wouldn't be.
You may have to fight to get allergy tests done

There seems to be a support group with more info

If it isn't a disorder, it could be linked with the food she is eating. Many food additives, like colourings cause hyperactivity in children. Try to give her natural foods and avoid crisps and sweets or ready meals.
Read the labels of any foods you give her to make sure there are few E numbers. Watch out for the colouring E102, Tartazine, as it has shown definate correlation with frantic behaviour.
Good luck
