regarding your answer to my spectator query, yes the penny did drop 30 minutes after posting. found 1811 much easier. just waiting for sunday telegraph now, to see my name as winner of e.v. ,have already received the pen & 15. :-)
Well done MLN:RUGBY, we look forward to seeing your name in print -- we'll know your real name now !!
I'm pleased that you managed to complete 1810 -- it seems such an easy thing to do to check the definition, but I had been going around in circles for days. The rest of the crossword I had completed with ease. I have only just started 1811, but, unlike yourself I am not finding this one easy at all --- I'll get there in the end though.
Hi Ulysses!
I thought I'd given a massive hint when I wrote '(Brewer)' after my correction of botonne - sorry , too lazy to do the accent -..... by implication one should check 'hot' in Chambers ( or also in Brewer ) ... but it was so subtle that I don't think anyone picked up on it !!
kettledrum: i have only attempted the last 4 E.V.s!
have had a win in most of the crossword comps that i have entered, & found this more challenging than most. keep swapping weekend papers for different challenges, but now running out of options!
ulysses100: cheers, i think you'll probably see the connection with my username!! not very creative :-)
