I am trying to get car insurance for my 17 year old daughter who has just passed her test. Quotes are coming back expensive whether she is a named driver or holds a policy in her own right. Some companies will not even insure a 17 year old.

Suggestions please?

Young drivers can sometimes get (relatively) cheap quotes from Quinn Direct:

Otherwise, I suggest reading Martin Lewis's advice about motor insurance:

From reading a few websites (and from knowing a young driver), the cheapest 3rd party, fire & theft cover, for a 17-year-old driver with a group 1 car, seems to start from around 1500p.a.

I got insurance for my son to drive my 1.1fiesta on his provisional for 575 pounds (it was only 99 for me on my own) from confused.com
she should take her pass plus. i wish i had at that age, as insurers like norwich union told me they'd give a huge discount. also liverpool victoria used to give you 50% off your premium as a new customer. this as a few years ago, but you could ring them up as they may still do it.
