Hi, I planted some Allium bulbs last year and they flowered fine. They are starting to come up this year but the ends of the leaves are all tinged with brown and look faded green. Basically they don't look the healthy shade of green that they should. Does any one know why? TIA

Hi my allium leaves are just the same, I asked at the garden centre and they said maybe I hadn't watered them enough. However in this months 'gardeners world 'mag Adam Pasco mentions that Allium leaves tend to be untidy and he plants smaller plants in front to hide this. Actually in the photograph you can see that his are quite brown at the ends too. I cut some of the brown off and they are flowering fine. Hope this helps.
They do need quite a bit of moisture without sitting in damp soggy soil so try watering them a bit more, especially as this has been a dry spring so far.
