At the moment my toilet takes a long time to fill up after you flush it. You can even hear it dripping after say 5
minutes from flushing.

I have been told to put a brick in the top but I'd like a more permenant solution than this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi 198x Are we to assume that it has been filling OK and has just started playing up this could be one or two things but before you proceed make sure you can turn the water off first from stored tank or mains to the cistern then work the ball valve up and own a bit this may free any obstruction from the valve if that fails then you may have to take it to pieces to examine and clean the brick is only to save water and plays no part in filling hth tez

Sorry about the vague question tezestwing, I was writing this in a rush.

I have just purchased my own flat and moved in, so I have no idea if the toilet was filling up properly but it was the first thing I picked up on.

I'll see if any of your suggestions work, but I can only get to the flat on weekends so it might be a while.
Seems to me that the inlet valve is possible limescale encrusted. It happens a lot in hard water areas.

Take the advice of tezestwing; who is 100% right about the brick and, after cleaning the inlet, it may become necessary to change the washer to stop the dripping.

It might be easier to call in a plumber....if you can find one...at a high cost of course.!!......................Ron
