can someone tell me if it is true that if you dont buy a car within two years of passing your test your license gets taken off you and start your test again?

No, many people drive forever as named drivers on their parents/spouse's cars without buying one themselves.

Also many people get company cars without losing their licences

so if you never even owned a car in the whole time you have had your licenece it makes no difference?
what about if you just chose not to drive and never been insured the whole time you had your license? will you still keep your license?surely once you have it,it is up to you when you choose to drive or buy a car!

Once you have passed your test and applied for your driving license, it is valid until you are 70, when you have to renew it.

The only reason you can lose your license is by committing driving offences that lead to a ban for a period of time.

There is no requirement that you own a car, be insured or drive.

after you take your test and pass, you must claim your "full" licence within 2 years. otherwise you must re-take your test.

maybe that's where the "2 years and you're out" comes from?

Also you can lose your license if you gain 12 points within 2 years of passing your test and you have to start all over again no matter whose car your driving.

no u lose your license if u get six points within 2 years. 12 therafter. the paper test pass certificate u recieve on passing your test must be sent to dvla to be changed to a full uk licence within 2 years or you need to do it all again.
