Gas Piping for a LPG Bottle

A newly acquired gas BBQ has been supplied with a different regulator than then one I have on my gas bottle. I can't remove the pipe from the regulator as it's glued in place. Therefore, is it OK just to cut the pipe and attach the cut end to the existing regulator? Is there a minimum length that should be maintained between bottle and BBQ?

Thanks!

I assume this is the flexible pipe with the regulator at the end. If so, no problem to cut it. Just secure the pipe to the existing regulator with a jubilee clip. Just thought, you are still using the same sort of gas aren't you. Propane (red bottle) and Butane (blue bottle) use different regulators. You can't use Propane on a Butane burner (and vice versa).
