I have been asked to pay an IBI Bill to the new owners of the apartment I sold last year. I asked the estate agent what it was and she hasn't got back to me. Is it the same as the "plusvalia" that is normally paid to the local town hall? If so why do I have to pay the new owners?

Thanks in advance

I'm assuming that your apartment is in Spain, as you don't actually say...

I.B.I. Is, more or less, local rates and is charged once a year (Between 15th March and 22nd May)

If you google IBI BILL there are lots of links and explanations.

I'm not sure why you should be expected to pay this years bill if you sold your apartment last year, that doesn't sound right!

Thanks CheekyChops, I thought they were trying it on as we sold in Mallorca in September last year and I paid all outstanding accounts. I knew when the estate agent didn't reply there was something not right.

Thanks again!
