.wmv files on a Macbook.....
Hi, how can I open a .wmv file on a Macbook? Quicktime won't open it. I have tried to download media player for the mac but it says I need IE 5 too - which is no longer available for download to the mac. Any ideas?
Also, do I need to get some anti virus software for the macbook? I know there are not many viruses that effect them at the moment but surely it's only a matter of time? Which one would you recommend?
Thanks in advance.

Why not go to the Microsoft site and download Flip4Mac?

Windows Media Player used to be available for Mac but MS now offer Flip4Mac which will play .wmv files in Quicktime.
No, you dont need anti virus software for Macs. There are no viruses for Macs, thats one of the great things about them. Dont waste your money.

You don't need virus software, yet. Go into the sharing tab in system preferences and turn on the built-in firewall, though.
For the .wmv problem, use flip4mac (free), as suggested above.
VLC is also great as vehelpfulguy suggests, for all sorts of other things.
Also install perian too, which lets Quicktime play all sorts of files it can't normally.
