Are these books valuable

I have a 1609 Doway old testament bible and a 1749 edition of Canterbury Tales.

Does anyone know of their worth ?

people like me pay mucho mucho money for a 1609 Douay version as it is part of our History (Rock Cakes in England 1600-2000]. You know, JESUITS! pulling out finger nails, Torturer ('hoary in evil, - his beard smells of vomit') saying , 'Now Mr Campion.....' Little John building hidey holes and being tortured to death to reveal them....
The Mayoress of Worcester on seeing a traitor hanged drawn and quartered - this one was senile and aged 81 - saying I feel like Pontius Pilate's wife.......

I think 785 is very low for this piece of History

Hi Peter,
Oh it's no ' flimsy flip' flop ! It's the genuine article and so is the Chaucer, both bought in 1965 at a book stall in the North East. They've just been resting inside a cupboard for years since then
Don't want to sound dumb, but where do you get things like this appraised ? Haven't got a lot of cash for appraisals either !

No matter which way the wind blows, the fact is, Henry VIII got his ' proddy-dog' excuse to practice his infedility to his heart's content, didn't he ? R.C. was the 'rock', the base, the first determiner of values, not the excuse for the other, more ' convenient' values of a King.
However you view ' rock-cake religiousity/doctrine' ; without the Roman cultural influence, we would all have been a lot worse off.
I think 'rock cakes' have earned their ' recognition' in historical as well as religious terms and we would all have waited a lot longer for flushes & hot-tubs, lol

Thanks all for the clarification. I'm a lapsed "rock cake" myself it's just I'd never heard the term used before except to decribe something to eat,so I must have missed the Sunday school class when the secret signals were passed out

Hi Paddywack.
I was born into the 'Rock Cake' realm and had my brains washed on the shuttle board beside the Sea of Galilee by some very cruel nuns. It removed most of the idealism being taught and now it has been replaced by spirituality, gentleness and tolerance about the past and others' lack of awareness.
