I know someone who works at tesco and even he says its a rip off. Those poor software developers, i bet they got payed a bit for making a load of *-*
This has been out for some time now and all the reviews I have seen have been good. Have you tried it? If not, how do you know it's rubbish?

I've been taking an interest in this since the pre-launch advertising and kept an eye on all the reviews.

The 'Office' package is made by Ability and has extra features - there is no pop ups or advertising. I have no idea where you got that from. It is fully compatible with Microsoft Office and I think that anything that encourages the non-techie user away from MS products is a good thing. It is cheaper than Ability.

I use OpenOffice - which is totally free - but some people reluctant to dabble in unfamiliar software may be reassured by the Tesco label.

One of my friends who is a computer a programmer tried it. He told me not to bother with it. The popups idea came from an article i read on the internet quite a while ago. It claimed tesco had left 'windows' in their software wich were very easy for hackers to exploit. Although tesco has done the right thing in terms of marketing, in my opinion tesco is like vernon kay, There getting to big for their own good.
iagree, its been documented they buy land to claim it, so no other developer (other supermarkets ) can build a store. i believe tesco is contributing to the demise of your local shop, the high street is slowly becoming no more.
jeezo, there even in poland. world domination.
You take your choice - thankfully there is plenty of choice out there.

But definitely no pop ups and no advertising with their software.

I think MS is too big for its own good and welcome competition from familiar household names. A lot of computer users are not online, and a readily accessible office suite alternative is an excellent way of giving choice to Joe Bloggs.
It's not only Tesco that buy land for that purpose - Morrisons and Sainsburys do too.

I don't see anything wrong with Tesco's opening in Poland. I can't think of one good reason for them not to. Polish people are entitled to just as much choice as us. If they don't like it, they shop elsewhere.

I buy groceries and household cleaning goods from Tesco, meat from a farm butchers 15 miles away and fish from my local fishmonger. Vegetables from the farm shop and local greengrocer.
I make my own bread.

Tesco is a mile and a half away, but my local supermarket is awful. Dirty, expensive and very limited range. Oh - I recycle all my recyclables at Tesco while I'm there.

The huge indoor shopping centre 3 miles from my local town has killed my High Street - BHS, M&S, Argos and so on have all relocated to this out of town shopping centre with its free car park. At least Tesco is still in the town.

Tesco is one of Englands biggest companies. I dont doubt they could get their finger into every pie and do it well. It's not like they got one of their cashiers to design the software.

its just a stigma. "what do tesco supermarket know about computers". Probably nothing but the people they hired to do the project probably do.

Probably. I dont know. I didnt even know that tesco made an ofice suite but i wouldnt be too proud to give it a go
Boobesque - it's made by the company that make Ability Office Suite and Panda security software.

At least with Tesco you get a no quibble money back guarantee.
ok ethel, so you work for tesco then?

If i worked for tesco i'd be straight down to the psychiatrists
I suppose some people have no choice though. Although tesco offer local choice products witch are quite nice, i don't think tesco should be dabbling with own brand software
I am long retired and have never worked for anybody - I had my own business.

But to accuse Tesco of attempting world domination AND to criticise them for providing some competition to Bill Gates Microsoft in the same breath is laughable.

I am 'for' consumer choice. If you want to use MS products that's fine by me. If you don't want to shop at Tesco that is also fine. But it's good to have a choice,
ethel, you are right about choice, when there are no local shops left in your area, you get all the choice you need at tesco.

I agree, i'm just not a fan of tescos software but for the people who are its godd for it to be available to them
As I have already said, I buy all my meat, fish, veg and fruit locally - I don't buy them from any supermarket.

I do support my local shops. I embrace choice.

Tesco is an international, tax-dodging, corporate takeover conglomerate whether you like it or not; if you think it's all about freedom of choice, tell that to the lettuce farmers whose lives are in tatters because Tesco decided to terminate their contracts halfway through upon finding a cheapre source. Corporate ********.
