Puppy injections

Can anyone tell me when a puppy has had its last injection how long is after that they can go out. Thanks in advance

When I worked as a vet nurse we said first jab at 8 week, second jab at 10 week then out at 11 weeks so a week after the second injection.

the vet should advise you best, but my vet will give first injection at 8 weeks, but will not give second injection until 12 weeks, and puppy can go out a week after ie: 13 weeks.

Having not that long ago been in this situation, my vet said to leave it 10 days to 2 weeks after the second injection.

Usually one week after the second jab, but it is important to get them out even if you carry them, and provided you don't put them down in a place where lots of dogs go i.e. the local park, then they are more at risk from not being socialised than from any infections.

Hi Lankeela, thanks for your advise, I have recently looked at some pups. As all the litter were different in colour I found it hard to tell what they would look like as adult dogs. The one I liked had a black and tan face and legs but I could not tell from looking at the rest of the body what it will look like. I am just a bit concerned that it may look grey like a wolf and not the classic GSD colours. Can you advise me.

If the breeder is any good they will be able to tell you the colour of the puppies. What colour are the parents, and are they registered? What is the kennel name? Do you particularly want sable puppies, or do you want black and tan? Please ensure the parents have been hip scored, and the father tested for haemophilia.

Sables tend to go lighter as they get older, although a very dark sable will remain fairly dark.

I suggest you visit some other litters and have a chat with some breeders about what you would like. I can put you in touch with some reputable breeders if you let me know roughly which area.

I live in the south west area UK. The mother was black and tan which we saw and the father was sable which we didn't see. If it had a black and tan face and legs will the rest of the body be the same? The breeder does seem very genuine. Do you also know the difference between smooth and rough coat?
