How do you know when Houmous has gone off? Ive had my tub opened for 4 days in the fridge, and its Use By date was yesterday, but it looks and smells fine to me.

It's probably fine, but for the sake of a few pence why risk the anxiety ? Even if it is ok you'll spend the next few hours after eating it wondering if it is going to upset you.

Incidentally, take vacuum-packed ready cooked ham for example. I have a packet in my fridge, Use By 04 Jul. This means it has a fridge life of at least another 8 days. What is going to happen to it on Day 9, Day 10. Is it suddenly going to breed bugs ? I'll bet the supermarkets build a large safety factor into use-bys, and I'll bet your humous is ok, but I'd give it to the cat.

LOL the cat wont eat houmous! I did eat some of it, but the rest I have thrown away. More for the sake of a few pence I needed to use it to make my salad with, as Im trying to eat healthily.
I guess it was probably all right but better to bin it just in case. I know make my own humous and it is much nicer that the shop bought ones, not as salty and really cheap to make, you should try it and you can add more/less garlic etc according to taste.

Thanks for the advice. Well, I seem to be alright still. I had the houmous yesterday afternoon. I can still see my hand right in front of me.
Yeah but is it still attached to your arm filthiestfis?
