2 tins chick peas-drained. Save a bit of the liquid
4 cloves garlic-crushed
juice of one large lemon
3 tablespoons Tahini
4-6 tablespoons olive oil
Put everything into a food processor, and blitz it. Scrape down the sides, and the bottom several times so all the mixture gets done. This will take 7-8 minutes.
This will keep for 3-5 days, and can be frozen for a month.
I think that's where I've gone wrong, not using some of the juice. It ended up just very dry and lumpy. I've got everything I need, so off to make some now. Thanks again!
I heard that the Greeks today are stopping the production of hummus and tramasalata - this way they think they can avoid the double dip of recession....boom-boom.
Lol Hopkirk. I just seem to buy tubs and tubs of the stuff, and usually end up throwing it away.
I just thought it would taste nicer homemade and it would help with waste.
But yeah, it would be quicker/easier I guess... :-)
Starbuckone - they do sell Tahini in Tesco. Sometimes its in the foreign food aisle though cos its usually greek or cypriot - depends what your store is like I suppose.
