I recently used system restore to go back a month. I then chose to undo the restore back to the original date. It took several hours. During the restore a message came up saying Virtual memory was minimum. I now find I have lost 40GB of hard disk free space. Can anyone advise how to get it back. I use XP Thanks in advance RAS
Check your System Restore settings, the restore points can take up a load of space. (40 gigs sounds a little high, though). If you decide to decrease the space you will lose some Restore points.
Also check your Recycle Bin - again, 40GB sounds a lot to be in there.
Thank you all for your help.
I am using XP Home version
My harddisk is 111GB
I have never had less free space than 80%
The free space loss is nearer 55GB.
Windows cannot find cd\chkdsk/f
I am sure the loss occurred during system restore
I have 25.5 GB of free space left.
If it is all on the c: drive should'nt I be able to find it.?
Should I reduce the 12% to see what effect it has.?
All help is greatly appreciated
