How do I download music onto an mp3 player? Been trying for over 3 hours with no success and tearing hair out!!!!!!!!AAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS What on earth does "drag and drop" mean?

If your MP3 player did not come with any software then you need to treat it like an additional drive.

Plug in the player to your computer either using the cable supplied or more probably plug it in to a USB port.

Go to the start menu and highlight "my computer". Under devices with removable storage you should see listed your MP3 player.

Drag and drop means exactly what it says, you highlight the MP3 track or tracks you wish to transfer from your PC and then keeping your finger on the right mouse button you drag them to the MP3 player icon showing in "my computer".

This will copy the files across and they are then ready to play on your MP3 player.

LOL, thanks Rojash. What makes it worse is that I even dragged something myself just to check before I typed the response. I blame being right handed and just getting mixed up !

One point, make sure that the files you are trying to ''drag & drop'' are actually music files in MP3 format or any compatible format and not music files direct from a music CD.
If you want to get music CD files to the player you will have to convert them first.

Also check if the hold button is switched on on your mp3 player. This function stopped me from transferring files, til I found the instructions (D'oh).. It will need to be in the off position.

Many, many thanks to all who answered. I managed to download a track from a music CD but still more to learn about all this "technical stuff". I'm pretty fick with computers when it comes to anything more than just the basics, so beware, I might be back!
