i was driving with friends to a restaurant and as it was quite busy, i had to stop in a queue of traffic. However, there was a taxi just on my right who was trying to pull in to my lane but as there was no space for him to get into, he got very close to my car and then bumped into the rear side of my car. I was very shocked and thought the taxi driver would stop his car and come out. Instead he decided to drive off, but i was concerned to how much damage he may have caused to my car so i turned left into a side street and noticed there were 2 small scuffs on the arch of my wheel (paint had been removed). Due to the damage being very small, and me not having the taxi drivers details i decided not to bother about it. To my surprise i recieved a letter saying that i had been driving without due care and attention. I am really worried and dont know how they knew that because i did not report it and there were no cameras. I dont know what to do because it wasnt even my fault. I just dont want any points or a fine for being blamed on something i havnt committed. Could you please give me some advice on that? i am still waiting for the letter to arrive to say what is going to happen.
i find it very hard to believe a word of your story, if it were true, you would get a medal, not a letter of some sort of summons,so tell the truth and maybe we can help, with some advice.
why dont you try ringing up the taxi company and trying to find out if one of their drivers has reported you as banging into them (as an explanation as to why they had a bump on their company car???)
