How long will it take for my increased medication to kick in? My blood results came back as 15.3 (should be under 5), so I have had my thyroxine increased from 100mcg to 125mcg. Have been on 100mcg for 10 years now. I am feeling totally exhausted, so just wondering if this will help.

LOL shaneystar :o)

What has really peed me off is that since I have been taking the thyroxine I haven't had any other medicines..so I haven't even been able to take advantage of my free prescriptions to the full! of course it has been a godsend though..I would be hard pushed to be able to afford this stuff.

What intrigues me is that the condition is regarded as life threatening, yet my mother in law has angina and has to pay for all her medicines ~ despite the fact that she has had heart attacks, and without her medication she could indeed die..

My Doctor gives me two months prescription at a time.
My doctor doesn't ~ it's a right pain! by the time I get my prescription I am down at the doctors ordering another one.
I do agree...I think that anyone with any ongoing medical condition that cannot be cured should have free prescriptions.
My doctor gives me two months medication at a time and they are very good here ..I take the repeat in ,the pharmacist collects it and they even deliver it to you if you wish.
If it hadn't been for someone telling me on AB about the free prescriptions I would still have been doling out for them !
I'm finding having an underactive thyroid a real struggle, I'm 27 and manage a resturant (very active) they are continually increassing my dosage (on 125 at mo) but my weight increase and lethargy is really getting to me, am surviving on sugar free red bulls. Does anyone have any suggestions of any supplements or things to miss out of my diet that may help?
