Reptiles for beginners

Hi there I have had a few snakes as pets before and it all went well etc... My other half would like to get a Lizard or something similar so I am thinking of getting one as a gift for him. But am unsure on what would be good for him to start with - have googled but get the same three lizards every time, there can't only be three! Can anyone suggest a good website with advice on feeding, how big it will grow, where it should live, what stuff it likes to have in its home etc... Thanks
