I have just downloaded limewire, The problem is when i type a search in nothing happens. I have tried to get help off the limewire site but cant found any thing out. when i put a search in it says limewire is currently connecting to the network your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network. Sorry this computer thing is new to me thanks in advance.

are you on broadband?

wait until at the bottom-left it says that you are connected, ideally with a good connection or better.

The search function wont work unless completely connected to the network. Make sure that java is running because limewire runs off java

also check your firewall(s). if limewire is blocked you won't get any messages telling you, it will just stay unconnected and wait for a connection.

Yeah it does say at the bottom left hand corner (that limewire has detected a firewall) the problem is how can i turn them off. And is this advisable. thanks

you dont need to completely disable your firewall, just let Limewire past it. Are you using Norton ? if so click on personal firewall, configure, programs. find limewire and change block all to allow or permit.

Hi, just been reading your posting with interest and having recently heard of lime wire I have thought about using it, but how safe is it? As you allow (I believe) other computers to access your files I am concerned about this as there are some unscrupulous characters out there. Thanks.
