Need a rough valuation for my car please!
4 Answers
I hope someone can help me!
I need to sell my car but I have no idea how much it is worth. I'll try and include as many details as I can.
It's a Vauxhall Corsa Club 1.0l 12V, petrol engine, manual 51 plate in light green
3 doors
Mileage is 75,600
well looked after, regularly serviced
MOT due to expire in 2 weeks
Road tax up at end of month (pretty soon!)
Condition: The timing belt needs replacing, it's getting very noisy. I know its serious but I've been told that as long as it hasn't gone yet then its an easy repair. I was also told 4 months ago at the service that there was slight play on the track rods....but I have no idea what that means!
All brakes and brake shoes replaced on last service 4 months ago
Exhaust system and 3 suspension springs replaced a year ago
Oil leak fixed 9 months ago.
New battery fitted 9 months ago
Front tyres are a year old (have done about 15,000 miles)
I have been told that the back tyres will last for another 10,000 miles.
One wing mirror needs replaced (was pulled off by a drunken idiot when I left the car in town one night!) it's currently taped on.
CV joints replaced almost 2 years ago
Car has never been involved in an accident.
It's a basic model, bottom of the range, no electric windows, no CD player, just tape player and radio. no air con, no ABS but it does have power steering and a drivers airbag!
I think thats about everything. Can anyone give me a rough honest value please?
Let me know if I've missed anything!
Thanks in advance for any replies :)

i had the same car - vauxhall corsa, y reg (6 months older than yours), space green 1.0i etc etc
mine was a club model which had a cd player, alloys, fog lights and only 46,000 miles on the clock. i part exchanged the car with vauxhall when i got my new corsa in january and they gave me 2200 for it. i thought this was a bit low as it was very clean in good nick etc etc, but considering you've got a lot more miles on the clock, 2 month MOT left and not much tax left, you might not get much for it because people wont pay a big price when they have to fork out tax and MOT. when i bought the car originally in july 05 they were asking for 3300 but it only had 2 months tax left on it so i offered 3000 to take the car the next day and get my own tax, which they accepted. i loved that car! i actually cried when i drove off in my new car leaving my old one there!!
good luck!!

Thank you guys for the answers! Really appreciate it.
Ok, I have a confession to make... I've told a tiny white lie...I actually sold the car last week in a rush and didn't have a clue how much it was worth. The garage I'd taken it to to find out about the timing belt offered to buy it off me.
I wanted to ask you guys how much it was worth without admitting I'd done the stupid thing and actually sold it without a clue and I didn't want anyone to be biased in their answer if they knew how much it had actually been sold for.
Anyway that explained, dan no1 - my car was also space green, and I LOVED it! And I actually did also cry when I sold it! I was quite embarrassed so it's good to know that I'm not the only one who could grow so attached to a little green corsa!
Ok, so I sold the car and now I'm coming on here sheepishly wondering if I've been done or not. I sold it for 800. Am I an idiot?
Honest answers please *cringes*

Selling to a dealer will never achieve a high price. What you got sounds about right considering the dealer has to spend money on it before trying to sell it while still making a profit.
You would have got more by part exchanging for a newer (or more expensive) model or by selling privately.
At least it avoids the hassle of you having to advertise it, waiting for potential customers to turn up or not, and letting any Tom Dick or Harry tearing around the block on a trial drive before poking and prodding around finding all the faults so they can knock the price down.
