Hello there i phoned Manchester airport up yesterday and asked if it was ok for my friend to fly with her passport only have one month left on it as we are off to Greece tomorrow until the 8th of September and her passport runs out on the 2nd of October i just wondered if anyone else ad flown with just a month on it? Seeing as though we are in Europe, i know you have to have 6 months on it to go outside of Europe.

many thanks

Phone the Greek embassy, they will be able to tell you
There's no need to phone the Greek embassy, Greece is an EU member state and is therefore obliged to recognise all EU passports up until their expiry date.

There are actually very few countries (all of which are outside of the EU) which insist on a passport having a validity beyond the end of a visitor's stay. Even the USA (which has some of the strictest rules regarding entry to their country) doesn't have such a requirement.

Do as chazza says, it's not really Manchester Airports problem, all they will do is let your friend out of the country, it's not up to them whether the other country will let you (or your friend) in.
