Youre all very lucky.
Yep, her mum was my childminder till I was 12 so I suppose we grew up like sisters.
Lost contact with all my mates from school and my home town , I guess going off to the big city and then going to live in Australia didn't help. Mind you I was getting on a bus a couple of years ago and the driver actually remembered me by name although he hadn't seen me since high school. :-) x
Why dont you give 'Friends Reunited' a whirl bigmamma? Ive caught up with several old school friends from over 40 yrs ago. It costs nothing to browse and register on the website. You only become a paid member when you want to send a message to someone and still ,its very reasonable.
I have been best mates with mine for 23 years, i am 27 now!
We have nothing in common but we talk for hours, we didn't go to the same schools but as soon as we got home we would be straight to one or the others house! Helped that she lived opposite!
Now our lives are totally different but we still get together once week.
Didn't go to school together but we lived 2 doors apart. She was my bridesmaid. So thats about 25yrs. I wouldn't tell her everything cause she not called (by me) rent-a-gob for nothing but i love her to bits.
Me! I have kept in touch and am friends with about 10 people and my bezzie mate at school is one of them. I see and speak to them (some more than others) all pretty regularly too.
Ashamed to say I have never kept in touch with anyone I went to school with.
Probably not even recognise one of them if they jumped up and bit me on the bum lol.
Didn't go to school with them but we've been friends for 15 years!
I have a passing acquaintance with some of my friends from school, but we've mostly moved away and moved on, we don't have much in common now. Sad really.
I don't get the friend's reunited thing, i think if I'd have wanted to keep in touch, i would have made more of an effort, I lost touch with most when I went to Uni.
My mum and my 'aunty' have been best mates since they started school at 5 yrs old, 52 years down the line still best mates! I only found out about 5 yrs ago (when i was 15) that Aunty Sue, was actually not my aunty and uncle Alan was not my uncle :( But to me and my brother and sister, they are still very very much Aunty sue & Uncle Alan, and their 2 kids are always known as cousins :)

I was born next to my best mate, went to playschool, nursery, junior, primary & secondary school together! Now shes at uni & im working, dont see her as much as i would like, but she is always always there for me :)

It seems to me its mainly the ladies that keep friends close.I think my other half must be the exception. Thanks for all your answers.
I have 2. One since we were about 8. We're 38 now. and the other since 9th grade. Not much in common anymore. They are both long married and have children, but we stil talk a lot and try to get together when we can. I am God mother to one's little girl. Though they have been scarce since my mother's illness. Not sure what that's about. I'll deal with that when all is said and done.
My boyf has kept in touch with more of his friends than I have. I wonder if it is because he is an only child, or because his mum died. I've always moved on and found new friends. Having said that, I have a friend from A-levels who I see occasionally & have found it interesting to see what people I knew at school are doing now, via Facebook, Myspace, FriendsReunited etc.
