Calico
I want to cover a wing backed arm chair very cheaply and have managed to get hold of some calico. Is it possible to dye calico as I feel that cream isn't practible!

Calico dyes easily, and you'll get good results with a cold-water dye (in a bucket!), or a washing machine dye. But there's often a coating applied in manufacture that could produce patchy colour if it's not removed. Always put calico through a full hot wash cycle before attempting any dyeing, just in case.
